  • Protected category: Your average gas use across the four winter months (November to February) stayed at or below 0.9 HM³. You pay a lower fixed charge, usually around Rs. 400 to Rs. 600 per month.
  • Non-protected category: Your winter average went above 0.9 HM³. Your fixed charge jumps to somewhere between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 3,000 per month, depending on how much you used.

If you ran your heater or geyser heavily in January, your four-month winter average might cross the 0.9 HM³ line, even if the other three months were normal. Step-by-Step Application Process

  1. Confirm a gas pipeline already runs in front of your premises. SSGC only accepts applications where the main line already exists on your street. Applying without this confirmed will get your application rejected.
  2. Choose your zone. SSGC accepts applications for Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Larkana, and Quetta.
  3. Find your nearest Customer Number and Meter Number. Ask a neighbour with an existing gas connection for these details, or note them from their bill. If you cannot find a nearby bill, SSGC still needs the nearest Customer Number to process your request.
  4. Fill in your property details. You will need to state your premises type (bungalow, house, flat, portion, or plot), plot size in square yards, number of floors, number of units or kitchens, and how many connections you need.
  5. Provide your personal details. This includes your full name, father’s/husband’s name, complete address, CNIC number, mobile number, and email address.
  6. Declare any outstanding dues. If there were previous unpaid bills at the same premises, you must mention them on the form.
